Review - ModelCo Nude Lip Liner.

nude lip liner
First of all let me start by saying, I've never been a huge fan of lip liners. After way too many failed attempts, and being left with rings around my lips; I gave up. That was until I received this little beauty in the April edition of Glamour magazine.

ModelCo state that their 'Lip Enhancer Illusion Nude Lip Liner, enhances and defines the lips. The unique skin colour & soft wax pencil allows you to create the perfect pout by giving the illusion of natural, fuller lips. The Lip Enhancer has been especially formulated with Bees wax, Carnauba wax, Cocoa butter and Shea butter to keep lips nourished, while the skin-coloured pigments naturally enhance the shape of your pout and suits any lipstick colour.'

Sounds perfect right?

It's always been hard for me to find a liner that doesn't pull at the lips so I was surprised at how good this product is. The liner glides on really well, and leaves my lips feeling soft. I guess this is down to the various wax's but it's a huge plus point and acts like a moisturising sealant. Quite often I've found liners to be drying on the lips, also having the tendency to bleed into the lip product but I didn't find this at all with this liner thanks to the creamy texture. The 'Illusion' aspect of this liner is completely correct, I was shocked at how much fuller my lips looked.

How often do we come across product's that claim to be nude but in fact they end up turning our lips pink or brown? This is now a thing of the past; thanks to the high pigmentation & texture of this product, any change in lip colour is prevented. Although I have a a very pale skin tone, the liner just adapts to my lip colour and manages to remain looking natural.

I was surprised at the staying power of this product, lasting for a good few hours even without adding a lipstick to the top of it. It also wears, and stays evenly so you don't have to worry about that damn ring around the lips!

The only downside is the sharpener: I found the liner too creamy when trying to sharpen, it got caught amongst the blades and I ended up wasting a lot of product, boo. Although, this is handy for touch ups on the move!

Nude lip liner, swatch, review, modelco(Don't worry, that is not a ring, I just have sore lips)

You can buy this direct from ModelCo for £16, I personally believe this is excellent value for money & I'll be repurchasing. Until now, I'd never heard of ModelCo so I'll definitely be checking out more of their items!

My first Holy Grail lip liner! WOO!

The Rise Of The Supermarket. #1

How guilty are we of just pushing the trolley around and not really having a look at what the supermarkets offer? When it comes to fashion, the supermarkets are pushing their way to the top. Style doesn't always have to be about spending ridiculous amounts of money and let's face it, we haven't all got the money to go spending £££ in Topshop/Zara every week! So I've decided to do a little series about the individual UK supermarkets.

In the past year, I've been applauding Tesco on the quality, and the exceptional point they have on trends. Their clothing is featured in nearly every magazine I pick up, including VOGUE. Below are my favourite looks from the Vogue shoot.

Vogue, Designer, Tesco Clothing, Cheap Clothing, Supermarket

This sheer jumper is absolutely gorgeous, and would look so fab tucked into a pastel skirt!

Vogue, Designer, Fashion, Tesco Clothing, Cheap Clothing, Gingham

Gingham print, that is all. One of my favourite trends for this Spring/Summer. Super cute.

I'm so guilty of spending the majority of my time in the clothing section at Tesco. I love looking at all their new stock, and I adore their prices. I don't mean to brag, but I picked up a super cute dress for £1 yesterday. YAY.

Here's a little not so little wish list of all the things I'm diggin' at the moment;

Tesco Clothing, Dresses, Pastel, Fashion, Wishlist, Cheap Clothing

Um, it's just become apparent how much I'm lovin' the blues this season. But, seriously; how gorgeous are these clothes and the Disney pyjamas.. CUTEEEE!

What do you think of my picks?

My First MAC Lipstick.

Needless to say,  I've stepped onto the MAC hype way too late. I've been left thinking; why haven't I done this before? I've always thought; woah, £15 for a lipstick, NO. That was back in the day when I was absolutely petrified of wearing anything other than nude. Do not worry yourselves though, I've a whole stack of colours and I'm proud. I may or may not have hundreds of pink lipsticks, but when I saw this, I knew it had to be. Let the MAC obsession begin.

Introducing my first MAC lipstick; Candy Yum Yum:

MAC Candy Yum Yum, Pink Lipstick, Beauty, Lipstick, Matte Lipstick

I will be posting a review of this soon.

2014 Blogger Challenge #6.

This is the 6th topic of the Blogger Challenge and it's all about food. I couldn't show you anything I can make, because I can barely boil an egg. So; I've decided to show you this AMAZING Marble Chocolate cake that my sister made for her daughter's birthday. She's totally talented right?!

  • 1 Frosted Cake
  • 200g White Chocolate
  • 200g Milk Chocolate
  • Greaseproof Paper

Firstly, if you haven't got a frosted cake then you will have to make one. My sister made a Marble (Chocolate & Vanilla) cake and then iced it with Buttercream. This consists of; 175g Butter, 175g Sugar; creamed together. Then add 3 Eggs, 175g Flour  & Vanilla Essence. Repeat this but replace the Vanilla with Cocoa Powder. Add half of each to 2 round tins & swirl together, not too much or the mixture will just mix together. Bake for roughly 30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Once cooked, sandwich the two halves together with Fudge Butter Icing, ice the sides and top with Vanilla Butter Icing.

Next, you will need to get your greaseproof paper and cover a work surface.

Grab your White & Milk Chocolate, break the pieces up into separate bowls and melt over a saucepan of boiling water. Make sure they are a good liquid consistency before you remove them from the heat.

Next, spoon blobs of Milk Chocolate on the Greaseproof Paper, and then spoon the White Chocolate around the edge. To create patterns; use a knife to cut through the Chocolate in different directions, don't do it too much or it will mix together. Leave your masterpiece to set, do not move until they are completely set.

Once, they are completely set. Grab a knife, dip it in boiling water and then cut through the shapes to create one flat edge.

Once you have your pieces you can now begin sticking them to the cake. Spread some icing over the back of the pieces that will make up the bottom of the cake, this will make it easier for them to stick to the cake. Then in her words 'ram the pieces in the top' and for extra support have them slightly lean against each other. It's up to you where you place the pieces!

All that's left to do is enjoy your cake!

Feel free to leave your links if you're taking part in this challenge. Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.

*My sister originally found the recipe on IcedJems, but has adapted it for her own.

Love, what is love? I mean, there isn't a definitve answer out there that can apply to everyone is there? We all have different perceptions of what love is. It may take some time to realise but we sure as hell as know what love isn't. In the end, if we have to wonder whether someone loves us then isn't that enough clarity? Surely if someone loves you, we would know, or feel it.

I think films & books can give us a false sense of what love/relationships are like. It isn't all romance, flowers, and men declaring their undying love for you. I wish it was like the movies, it would be so much easier. However, there is heartbreak, it hurts; it feels like it won't stop hurting, but you DO get over it.

I've had a few relationships, although, only one was serious and for me, I consider it to of been 'love'. In the end, I learnt that two people can fall in love with each other, but it doesn't mean they're meant to be together. It really is true that sometimes, no matter how much you love someone, you need to let them go.

Love isn't always logic, so if I could give one piece of advice it would be that; if what you're feeling is mutual, then you will feel good about yourself.  Never accept any less than you deserve, and know your worth. This doesn't mean that your should act arrogant, but more as though you are valuable. I'm a strong believer that if you believe you're worth more, then people will also treat you that way.

I've been single since that relationship came to it's final halt.. Love confuses me; it feels wonderful but it also hurts like hell, but I am thankful for the time on my own, it's given me chance to heal, and grow as a person. For the first time in my life, I love who I am, and I'm happy. This doesn't mean there aren't things I would change but I feel content. I've come to realise that happiness isn't something you should strive to find by being with someone. Happiness is something that comes from within. Only now will I be able to accept what I deserve.

In all honesty, I don't really know why I've written this post. I clicked 'write a post' and it all came out. I probably contradict myself a few times, but the gist is easy to understand.

Have you ever been in love? Do you agree with me? What do you believe 'love' is?

Review - Models Own Lipbalm.

These lip balms come in three different flavours; Peach, Watermelon and Coconut.
Models Own say  " These ‘melt-on-your-mouth’ moisturising balms are deeply nourishing, ultra soothing and taste delicious. Specially formulated with Vitamin E and hydrating Aloe Vera to help treat chapped and cracked lips, they also come with SPF15 protection, making these fruity balms an everyday essential!"

First of all, the packaging. Super, super cute. I love the vibrant neon colour, and of course the one I picked up is pink. Bonus. The pot features a little mirror inside which is so handy for on the move. It seems to be made out a rubberized material, although I'm not sure 100% sure on this as I can't find it on the website. However, this is an excellent design as it's almost unbreakable. Again, this is perfect for on the move.

The lip balm itself doesn't have a strong coconut flavour at all. I'm kind of glad about this as I'm not sure if I'd favour that all day long. The texture is very moisturising, also helping to keep my lips hydrated. It does keep the lips shiny, without having a thick, sticky appearance.

I recently picked this up in the 50% off sale, but it retails at £4. This is excellent value for money and I'd recommend it to anyone. I've been looking for something to match up to my faithful Sally Hansen Lip Therapy for a long time, and now I've finally found it. It's been a real life saver for me at the moment, okay, perhaps not life saving but lip saving, yes!

Have you ever tried Models Own Lip Balm before?

Tag - Three Brands, Three Favourites.

This tag was created by the beautiful Paige, over at it involves picking three make up brands, and then choosing your three favourite products..

Here are my picks..

My three favourite things from Illamasqua are;
1.Tremble Blush; you may of seen my recent review of this here. I absolutely love this blush, it's highly pigmented, lasts all day & makes my skin look softer.

2. Pigment in Static; I this as a highlighter as part of my contour routine. I love it; the paleness and shine can be quite scary when you put it on at first, but it's so easy to blend!

3. Immodest Lipstick; this can be a little drying on the lips at times but I love the colour so much. It's going to be perfect in the Spring/Summer.

My three favourite things from ELF are;
1.Contouring Blush/Bronzer; I use this daily and it's become my ultimate favourite thing ever. I don't use the blush that often but the bronze creates the perfect contour over the cheekbones.

2. Lipstick in Sociable.. pink pink pink. What more can I say? I'm a sucker for pink lipsticks and for only £1.50 this is AMAZING quality.

3.Brush Shampoo; I may be cheating by putting this in here but I do love this. It cleans the brushes really well, and keeps them soft.

My favourite drugstore brand! My three favourite things from Seventeen are;
1.Miracle Matte Foundation; I have found this very difficult to match. The texture & the finish on my skin are impeccable. The coverage isn't always great, for those days when I have pesky spots I do need something heavier but this is perfect for dry/combination skin. The finish is quite natural and with it being matte, there is no shine to it at all. I love it.

2. Falsifeye Mascara; This gives my lashes some serious oomph. Without clumping, it helps to volumise and make the lashes appear thicker. I'm not a fan of false eyelashes but this mascara really helps to bring my lashes some life.

3.Stay Pout in Kiss Me Quick; Another pink lipstick.. this isn't drying at all and the pigment quality is amazing, especially considering it's not a high end product. I love all Seventeen lipsticks!

Have you tried any of these?

Today, lent begins..

Lent is essentially a Christian Festival, that imposes we give up luxuries and try to practise self-discipline. In more recent terms, the church sees it as a time for overcoming out faults & sins.

Now, I'm not religious but for the first time in my life, I'm taking my own decision to take part in this. I, like many other people have done things I'm not proud of, so this may be a chance to forgive myself and let go of those little things I beat myself up over.

In terms of giving up luxuries... well, I'm hoping this is going to kick start a healthier lifestyle. After spending yesterday indulging in far too many pancakes, and then coming up with the brilliant idea excuse of 'we have to watch a film and have snacks', (this was blatantly just to get my final craving of chocolate)... I'm kissing goodbye to chocolate, crisps, fast food & doughnuts. EEK.

Are you giving up anything? Wish me luck.

Easter Sunday cannot come quick enough..

2014 Blogger Challenge #5.

This is the fifth topic of the blogger challenge, and we're in March.. Can you believe how quickly this year is flying by? I know it's probably said most months but jeez, slow down a little! Anyway, this week's topic is all about nails.

I recently did a haul from Models Own, so I've decided to show you a NOTD (nail of the day) using two of their varnishes; PINK VENEER (HYPERGEL) & MERMAID TEARS (SPLASH). I applied the Pink Veneer to all of the nails, and then the Mermaid Tears to the ring fingers.

I've never tried Models Own before so when they had their 50% off sale, I jumped at the chance to purchase some new varnishes. As you can probably tell from this NOTD; I'm quite boring when it comes to nails...I just cannot be bothered to learn nail art and I by no means have any capability of doing anything remotely fiddly. Honestly, I may aswell be a cow in a china shop, it just ain't gunna work.

I was really impressed with the HyperGel. Although it took me 3 coats of the varnish to get good coverage, these do have a high quality shine to them and don't chip easy. The HyperGels are very similar to the overall look of Shellac nails & they retail at a small price of £5; excellent value for money. There are 10 gorgeous colours in the HyperGel collection, all perfect for Spring/Summer.

This being said, I was not impressed with the Splash varnish. This is supposed to be a glittery nail polish, it would be a glittery nail polish if the fragments actually came out properly. In the end, I had to pick out the fragments and stick them on my nails as they just wouldn't come off the brush. RAA, annoying. Definitely not worth £5, especially when you can pick up better quality from Barry M!

Have you ever purchased anything from Models Own?

Feel free to leave your links below if you're taking part in the challenge. You can find the rest of my posts here.

Hello March.

Granted, I'm 3 days late at welcoming March but I still have to say HELLO. Part of me wants to say the old 'I can't believe how fast this year is going' but we all say that don't we? I'm a sucker for the winter but I'm welcoming Spring with open arms this year. Move aside storms & floods & please let the sun through.

March is one of my favourite months of the year. It excites me that Spring is here, or on it's way, it seems to be a little late recently. Ah, but spring is joyful, it's like the start of new life and everything springs back all jolly. I probably sound a little queer but it makes me happy to see the colours flowing back into our trees. Living in Cornwall, I am lucky to be surrounded by countryside and pretty beaches!

I spent the weekend spring cleaning, utterly boring but I am so glad I did this! I actually spent the majority of it amongst clothes; getting the summer box of clothes out, sorting out my current clothing & deciding what was too Autumnal/Wintery. I got the absolute mick taken out of me by the males in my house, but they just won't understand that you have to swap navy blue for baby blue.. coooomeon, back me up. OF course, I had to make room for upcoming purchases as well... ZARA, ASOS..I'm looking at you guys.

I also love this month because it's the month two of my nieces were born. If you know me personally, then you'll know these girls are my absolute world. This year, they are turning 12 and 10. sob. I wish they could stay little but watching them grow is incredible. I couldn't be any more proud of my sister for bringing these girls up, they truly are amazing

Soppy moment over...

Before I go, I'd like to throw another bonus of this month out there..

What are you looking forward to this month?
