Baby's First Christmas Eve Box

what to put in christmas eve box for baby

Christmas Eve boxes are a fairly new craze in the UK but I love the idea of them. I know most people will probably think a Christmas Eve Box for a baby is a little pointless but it's a tradition we want to do every year so why not start with baby's first Christmas? I have to admit, it wasn't easy deciding what to include in ours but I think we managed to include some lovely bits..

A Space Of My Own..

Office Furniture Wishlist

Once little man came along, we had to turn my walk in wardrobe/office into a nursery - the things you sacrifice for your children eh? All jokes aside, I really miss having my own space to work in. I'm one of those people the scours pinterest and truly appreciates Scandi decor and beautiful office furniture. Can you hear my plea? I really need my own office; sitting on the sofa is just not the same and often leads to me procrastinating and then thinking balls, I haven't achieved anything. Unless adding various items of clothing to your online basket, crying at the total and clicking off without purchasing anything is achieving something? If so, I'd win a medal...

Trying To Find A Forever Home

Since becoming Mum, I'm alot more driven towards my goals and want to make sure my little man has the right start in life. I know that all kids really need are loving parents and a happy home but where we currently live isn't ideal and it's so far from a forever home for us. As I'm sure many people do, I have a dream home in my head - but whether we can achieve it is another matter...

Living With Irritable Bowel Syndrome

How to cope with IBS

I was diagnosed with IBS almost 10 years ago, and if I'm completely honest, I, like 33% of the public don't actually know what causes IBS flare ups. All I know is; for me flare ups cause a huge amount of discomfort and they're really painful; to the point that I'm often reduced to tears on the bathroom floor...

Our Christmas Book Advent Calendar

I've loved the idea of a book advent ever since I saw it on Pinterest a few years ago. I've always known I'd do one when I had a child as I just love adding a little magic into the build up to Christmas! So, why not start with Baby's first Christmas?  I'm hoping to make this a yearly tradition so I'm sure we'll acquire quite a collection over the years but we've got some fab books this year...

Stocking Fillers For Babies

Baby stocking fillers

Back when I was a kid I can remember getting all kinds of random things in my stocking like rubbers and little eye shadows. Ooh not forgetting an orange and chocolate coins - they're a stocking essential, right? My little one will be almost 8 months at Christmas so I'd thought I'd put together a little list of stocking fillers for babies. Most of the products are under £5!

Christmas Gift Guide For Babies

Christmas presents for baby

I don't mean to alarm you or anything but Christmas is 4 WEEKS TODAY! Eeek. That means it's Christmas Gift Guide time. Woo. Baby's first Christmas is so special so I decided to start with gifts for Babies. I've found B the hardest to buy presents for so if you're also finding it a tad difficult I hope you manage to find a little inspiration...

Breastfeeding Is Not The Easy Option

To the lady in Matalan,

It's not often that I get annoyed by an opinion that differs to mine, I'm usually pretty open and can respect that someone else thinks differently to me but today that wasn't the case. Whilst standing in line, I overheard you and your friend discussing the ever so controversial topic of breastfeeding v bottle feeding and that's when I heard you say "Breastfeeding is the easy option".

Should All Presents Come From Father Christmas?

how many presents should i give my children from father christmas?

When I was kid, everything in our stocking was from Father Christmas and all the presents under the tree were from family. When I went back to school in January, I can remember some children would excitedly shout that Father Christmas bought them a new bike, or the latest new craze. One thing I'll never forget is the feeling of wondering why Father Christmas didn't bring me something as expensive as a bike, especially when I'd been good! Even more harrowing was the face of the children who's families didn't have a lot of money so subsequently they had very little from the big man. I know at the moment B is still small so I don't have to worry about any of this happening just yet. But, it did get me thinking; should all presents come from Father Christmas?

Review | HushCush Nursing Pillow

Nursing pillow review

I spend a lot of my time breastfeeding so it's natural to want something that makes it a little comfier for both baby & I. If I'm honest, I used to think nursing pillows were just another pointless product that consumers wanted you to buy but I couldn't be more wrong. It only took 6 months but after trying a few different brands, I've finally found my favourite - the HushCush Nursing Pillow,  it's an absolute dream when nursing..

Our Festive Bucket List

Now that Halloween is behind us, I'm all over the festive feels and what better way to begin Christmas posts than with a little festive bucket list? I'm so excited this year, I'm an absolute fanatic anyway but this year is my little ones very first Christmas and I cannot wait. I'm one of those people that start shopping in June, and act like a child as soon as I see anything remotely festive in the shops. Christmas is all about family so there are a few things I'd like us to do together this year, and some of these I hope will become our family traditions for years to come..

  lost my name review

I've always been a book worm, I absolutely love reading and knew that I'd want B to have a mini library for himself. Whilst his book collection is growing day by day, mine is slowly being neglected. As is everything else of mine (kids, eh?!). We were recently sent 'The Little Boy Who Lost His Name' and I can already tell this is going to remain our favourite personalised book for years...

Six Months Of Being Mum

Today is the day my little dude turns six months old, so I'm going all in with a cliche but I really don't know where the time has gone? It literally feels like I've blinked, and he's all of a sudden no longer my little newborn. He's a giggling, wriggling, cheeky little monkey and I just can't get enough of him. I honestly can't believe I've already been a mum for six months..

4 Things That Make Life With A Newborn Easier

Having to look after your brand new baby, and recover from giving birth is probably one of the hardest times of your life. It's hard, really hard, especially as a first time Mum when you have absolutely no idea whats going on, or what to do with this new bundle that doesn't seem to do much but cry, feed and sleep. I'm making it sound awful aren't I? Its not. It's the best damn experience ever, and one I'd do over and over again if I was given the chance but I'm not disputing the fact that it's really overwhelming. Your emotions are crazy, you hurt in places you didn't even know could hurt, and you're constantly worrying whether your baby is ok or if you're doing it right. In all fairness, no one knows what the hell they're doing, and there certainly isn't a right way to parent but there are a few things you can buy to make life with a newborn easier...

REVIEW | Mama & Belle Teething Necklace

mama and belle teething necklace

Oh, Teething. You can almost hear the delight in my voice can't you?! To be fair, Toothache drives me absolutely crazy so goodness knows what it's like for these little ones! We've actually been fairly lucky with B; until recently he's just been dribbling his way through numerous bibs, and chomping on anything he can fit in his mouth. But, the past couple of weeks it's upped it's anti and we now face random outbursts of crying. I hate it. We've been trying a few things to help ease his pain and so far we've found the Ashton & Parsons powder to work wonders, along with our Mama & Belle Teething Necklace.

A #BrightFuture For My Son...

Before I became a Mum I didn't really think too much of the future. Life hasn't always been kind to me and if I'm completely honest, I just used to take each day as it comes, perhaps a little carelessly! Now I often lay awake wondering what the future will bring for my baby, and how I can try to make his world a better place...

Mum Style | Autumn Wishlist

The summer clothes are officially in the loft, and I am so pleased. Autumn fashion is my absolute favourite; the chunky knits, the mahoosive scarfs, and the fact it's actually okay to wear black all the time. My style has definitely changed since I became a Mum, I didn't really expect this to happen but I now find myself opting for comfort over anything else. Please tell me I'm not the only one? Here's what I'm currently loving..

The Eve Mattress | Review & Discount Code

Eve Mattress Review

The past year has been one sleep deprived blur. Pregnancy worries and an ever growing bump meant I'd lay awake all night getting profoundly annoyed whilst my other half snored his head off. Following that, we had the newborn days which as you probably well know don't leave much to be desired in the sleep department. Although, I have to admit my lack of sleep was more than likely down to the shoddy ten year old mattress I was using, rather than my baby. I hadn't really thought just how vital a good mattress is to getting a good nights sleep, that was until I tried the Eve Mattress, it has changed my life...

Encouraging Creativity With Stickerscape

chalboard wall stickers

I've always wanted to create a space where B can learn, be imaginative and have fun as he grows up and develops new skills. I think encouraging creativity in children is so important, and I love seeing how they express themselves. As our nursery is only tiny, we've set up a little corner for imagination and play; for now, as B is still a baby this is sufficient enough space for us. In our little corner we have books, toys and my favourite of all; this fab Stickerscape chalkboard wall sticker.

Things To Know Before Being Induced

things to know before youre induced

If you've read my birth story then you'll know I had to be induced due to reduced movements. The leaflet I was given at the hospital was rubbish; there was a severe lack of information so I had no idea what to expect. The only thing that replayed in my mind was that induction leads to an increased risk of C-Section so I walked into hospital that day knowing very little about what was going to happen..

Jord Wood Watch | Review

Using sustainable products in fashion isn't something you hear often, however, there's something sweeping the market and maybe, just maybe we can start to say it's becoming cool. Like me, you probably don't think of fashion when you hear Wood. Other than toggles on a duffel coat, I struggle to think of anything else? Until recently that is, now, there's a variety of different wooden accessories available; my favourite being Jord Wood Watches.

Babywearing With The Wuti Wrap™

wuti wrap, stretchy wrap, babywearing

During my pregnancy, I used to see my friend babywearing with all these beautiful wraps, and wondering how on earth she managed to tie it all together to carry her baby. It was all a little alien to me, and if I'm honest, it scared me a little. I'm all cack handed and thought there was noway I'd be able to wrap my delicate new baby without getting caught in the wrap, or, potentially dropping him. Thank goodness the latter has never happened, and it's actually far easier than I thought...

Can We All Just Stop Justifying?

Being a parent, you're going to come across people that will give you their opinions on what you're doing, whether they're welcome or not. No matter what we choose to do, it's wrong in the eyes of someone else but you can't expect something to become accepted if you continue to justify why you're doing it..

Celebrating With Baker Days

personalised cake,

It's been two years since my boyfriend and I made 'us' official. I can't believe how quickly time goes by, and how much can happen in just two years. Obviously the biggest moment being the day our son was born, and not forgetting the day we bought our (not so little) fur baby. Becoming a family has been the best adventure, and I can only hope that we continue to make many more amazing memories. When Baker Days asked if I'd like to review one of their letterbox cakes, I thought this would be perfect for celebrating our two years; any excuse for cake, right?!

Our Bathtime Routine | NEWBORN

As with anything baby related, there's alot of conflicting advice on when you should give your baby their first bath. Some hospitals will wash babies soon after birth but we asked for a simple towel rub just to remove the blood from delivery; Vernix Caseosa (the waxy coating on newborns' skin) is actually a natural moisturiser/cleanser and protects against infection, so why wash that off?! For us, we waited until Day 10 for baby's first bath. It was pretty nerve wrecking to begin with but luckily we have a happy little water baby who loves a good splash around. We've now established a bath time routine that works well for us..

If you're a fellow iPhone user then you'll probably know there's nothing quite like the fear of the smash when you drop your phone. No one wants the hassle of having to get their phone fixed, neither do they want the cost. DAD'S GOT THIS

It's World Breastfeeding Week and time to celebrate Dads, more specifically, the role they can play with supporting Mums who breastfeed. The bond you get from feeding your baby is amazing, there is absolutely nothing like it. So, what about Dad? Quite often during this time, Dad's don't always get the feeding bonding time that bottle fed babies get. But don't sweat it, this is where the Express & Go comes in.

Breastfeeding Friendly Fashion..

Pregnancy taught me that the majority of maternity clothes are a little on the frumpy side, rather than fashionable. If I'm completely honest, I think this added to my severe lack of confidence, and made me loathe my appearance even more. Probably a little self indulgent but I just couldn't get to grips with or be happy with how my body was changing. I've always known I was going to be breastfeeding, but the majority of 'nursing' clothes, are also on the less fashionable side, yay. Obviously you can just pull your top up if you want to feed, but there are a few clothing styles that allow you to feed easily.. You really don't need to spend a fortune on 'nursing' specifics...

The Baby Beau Isabelle Changing Bag

changing bag

I must of spent hours looking at changing bags, I knew I didn't want something that looked like a changing bag; I wanted something simple, stylish and versatile enough that I could get away with using it for myself if I needed to. I finally settled on the Baby Beau 'Isabelle' Canvas Changing Bag. It's at the higher end of the budget, but so worth it. The material is made of a lightweight canvas but also has details of brown leather and gold hardware, which gives it the stylish, chic look.

How To Feel Better About Yourself During Pregnancy..

Pregnancy tips, confidence in pregnancy

Pregnancy can be hard work. Regardless of what you're doing, you probably think of very little else except your new baby. It's so easy to get caught up in preparing for this new life that you forget to take care of yourself. Common problems such as backache, hip pain and insomnia can leave you feeling pretty deflated at times so even if it's only for a little while.. you need to put yourself first. No, this doesn't make you a terrible person, afterall.. you are growing a tiny human inside of you! (Well that's my excuse anyway)

Can You Really Say Bye To Frizzy Hair With GHD Air?

GHD Air Kit

I have a confession to make; I'm nearly 24 years old and this is the first hair dryer I've ever owned. If you read this then you'll remember my moans and groans about the delightful frizzy hair I was blessed (or not) with. If I'm completely honest, hairdryers have always scared the living daylights out of me; mainly because the aftermath of a blow dry isn't pretty. I really do end up looking like a lion.

With so many hair care companies claiming to beat frizz and failing, you can see why I was dubious when I saw 'Say goodbye to flat and frizzy hair' was the selling point for the GHD Air...
