A Monochrome First Birthday Party

You may of noticed everything has been quiet on my social channels, and even quieter on the blog. I will admit, and yes, you can call my crazy, I turned into some kind of mumzilla to make everything perfect for my baby's first birthday.

Lets just address the fact my baby is officially ONE! I know everyone says this, but I really don't know where the past year has gone? It's literally flown by. Anyway, little man's birthday fell on bank holiday weekend; the added day meant that family could travel down without it all being too much of a rush, so we decided to throw a little party to celebrate him turning one.

I love having something to plan, although as I mentioned above I do tend to obsess and then turn into some sort of crazy person; I guess I'm of those Mums, sorry kiddo! I started planning months ago, if you follow my Instagram then you'll definitely not be surprised that we went for a Monochrome theme, I can't help it.. I get a little giddy over monochrome! Finding plain black and white party decorations wasn't easy, and some how I managed to leave buying all the decorations until the week before - needless to say Amazon Prime saved the day.

I never realised how difficult it would be to think of party food, especially when you have to consider various ages. We went for the savoury staples like sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, cheese and pineapple sticks, quiche and mini pizzas. We had a various selection of crisps, and we also added cucumber and pepper sticks with dip for the little babies, as they're fab for gnawing on! For the treats we had Haribo, French Fancies, marshmallows, popcorn and chocolate teacakes.

This fabulous monochrome cake was made by a lady local to us; I can't even begin to tell you how delicious it was, absolutely worth every penny! The 'ONE' topper is from Inspired by Alma.

Giant number balloons are becoming a staple for any party, we got our number one here. Those funky silver party poppers are from Tesco, these are so much better than the standard coloured ones!

Cups, plates, napkins, tablecloth and candles are all from Unique. Not pictured, but we also had their black and white balloons, chalkboard bunting and crepe paper streamers, I'm really impressed with the quality of their party bits; I did notice you can pick some of their bits up in The Range.

The rest of our party bits came from eBay.. Chevron straws are a must have aren't they? These are really solid so there were no worries of them falling apart with one drink. I love the popcorn boxes, they're so cute, you can get the black here, and white here. The trays are also from eBay; fab quality and they're reusable, all for a bargain price.

I wish I got better photos of everything but I was so busy sorting everything out, and then everyone arrived early. Kids parties are so exhausting, but we had the most lovely day!
